Meet the Parents Attire
The holidays are around the corner which means you’re gearing up for some traveling back home or somewhere vacationing. For a lot during this celebratory period, if you have a significant other, plans tend to include meeting the parents or family. It’s an opportunity where a common group meets up reunion-like, which can be either overwhelming or just what you needed.
So what should you wear for this occasion if you are the special guest? It might as well be like another first date, you’re gonna want to make an impression! This doesn’t necessarily mean stand out...but it also doesn’t doesn’t mean stand out. If that makes sense.
For the ladies we’re recommending jumpers or jumpsuits. And here’s why: They are dressy, respectable, and comfortable. Depending on where you are going, whether a warm or cold climate, they are typically lightweight or can be worn seamlessly with long john thermals underneath. They are truly a happy balance between dressy and simple when you don’t know the dress code.
With that, we think a chunky or block heel is best to pair. Because once again it’s dressy enough but has the support your feet need to move around while hopefully not tripping in. The images above are great references when stilettos are too sexy and flats are too casual.
Now for the men who are meeting the parents, we want you to be comfortable as well! There’s enough you’ll overthink about, trust. So having a great in-between pair of pants like navy chinos or light wash slacks are key to executing this cool collected attitude. They have a nice fit to them and go well with button-up shirts or polos too, making them very effortless.
Some wing tip shoes or loafers will complement those awesome pants. These style of shoes are pretty classic and able to handle the day’s activities (with many now having soft soles compared to hard bottoms).
Well…
we certainly hope that you get along with the parents more than anything, but keep in mind…Parents will definitely be paying attention to details, so please make sure there are no wrinkles or questionable prints on your outfit! But let us know, how did you dress when you met the parents?
